This position is based at our Camden, NJ Slag plant. The Camden Slag Plant is a small team of 18 people where everyone takes ownership in their responsibilities and willingly assists others wherever necessary.

What you'll get to do:
- Plan, schedule, execute, and complete mechanical running, emergency and preventive maintenance work.
- Work closely with Maintenance Superintendent to meet the needs of the plant and stationary equipment.
- Continuously seek ways to improve the maintenance of the plant.
- Assure that proper tools and equipment are available to do the work assigned.
- Be sure that the people in the department are properly trained in maintenance craft skills and safe work practices, including the potential environmental impact effect by malfunctioning plant equipment. Evaluate training needs and provide additional training as needed.
- Must complete all assigned work in compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements (i.e., OHSA, DOT, DOL, etc.), including safety programs administered at a State or Local level where allowed by the Department of Labor. Must maintain awareness of surroundings at all times and perform their work in a safe and productive manner. In the event of a workplace incident, immediate notification to a supervisor and/or manager is required.
- Supervise some projects, including bidding, budgeting, and field supervision of contractors and plant employees.
- Provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant for all shifts by participating in the plant’s on call program. This includes evaluating and determining the course of action for maintenance incidents after hours and on weekends while on call and may require on-site supervision of the resolution to maintain operational efficiency. Must be willing to work weekends and after hours for supervision of emergency repairs as needed.
- Set and maintain high standards for safety and both the quality and quantity of the work of the department.
- Safe and effective utilization of the people in the department and contractors. Actively participate in the plant’s safety program and maintain housekeeping of tools/parts storage containers, shops, and other areas designated to the maintenance team.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance work, including equipment failure troubleshooting and hydraulics. Prior experience working with heavy industrial machinery and equipment required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Experience in a union environment preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others with or without direct authority.
- Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Attitude of pride and ownership in your work.
- Ability to anticipate and adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to perform tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces and occasionally lifting to 50lbs.
- Willingness to provide coverage during off-shift hour and weekends as required.
- High school diploma required.; An Associate Degree from a technical school is preferred.

Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
