What we needSymbotic is seeking an Advanced Industrial Electrical Engineer to join the electrical design department. In this position, you will work as a member of the team in the conceptualization, design, analysis, fabrication and testing of Symbotic's automated material handling equipment.
What we doThe Industrial Automation team is part of the Industrial Controls organization which develops products for our warehouse automation systems. With a proven track record in industrial control specification, design implementation, standard engineering practices and documentation; our mission is to research new platforms, utilize advanced hardware, and push the limits of technology to build a world-class automation platform that minimizes development time, reduces commissioning time, and eliminates unplanned downtime.
What you'll do
- Participate in the design of Industrial Electrical Control Panels and Machine Schematics for compliance with UL508a, NFPA70, & NFPA79 standards.
- Interface with the internal Industrial Controls Team, assisting with PLC testing, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in the design and drafting of ground up Industrial Automation Electrical Systems.
- Support production by investigating build failures, build issues or field failures.
- Share in the research of outside sources and evaluate electro-mechanical components such as controllers, connectors, sensors and actuators.
- Take part in defining protocols, writing test plans and conducting the necessary testing required to validate the safety and effectiveness of the design(s).
- Create and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Travel to customer sites to support new installations (up to 35%)
What you'll need
- Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Control's Engineering, Computer Science or a related Field.
- 5+ years of working experience.
- Experience in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN Electrical, and SolidWorks Electrical.
- Experience programming, troubleshooting, debugging Rockwell Automation ControlLogix PLCs.
- Knowledge of Industrial Automation Safety Standards.
- Command of UL508a, NFPA70, and NFPA79 standards.
- Knowledge in standard Industrial Automation Communication Protocols (Ethernet/IP, ASI, DeviceNet).
- Ability to work in a results-oriented, project-driven, real-time team environment, prioritize projects and deliver quality results within tight time constraints.
- Strong interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of motor controls and robotics preferred.
