What we need We are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to join our Safety team within the Hardware R&D organization. Your job will be to ensur e that the planning and coordination of functional safety activities are conducted and documented in accordance with appropriate safety standards, IEC 61508, ISO 13849, OSHA, NFPA and various applicable Type-C standards. Responsibilities include maintaining the safety plan and monitoring the progress of the safety activities against the safety plan. You will routinely interface/collaborate with multi-disciplined project team members, management, suppliers, manufacturing, and customers.
What we do The Safety team is part of the Hardware R&D organization and is integral in ensuring that Symbotic's warehousing automation solutions are not only efficient and cutting-edge , but also adhere to the highest standards of safety and compliance.
What you'll do
- Manage Functional Safety activities for safety conformity and compliance.
- Collaborate with project managers, development team and customers on Functional Safety
- Participate in the design process and provide professional feedback to achieve of the safety goal.
- Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development cycles.
- Travel up to 25% to Symbotic and customer sites.
What you'll need
- BS degree in an e ngineering related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience driving product functional safety and compliance.
- Experience with functional safety standards and regulations.
- Experience with system engineering approaches (requirements engineering / management, functional analysis and allocation, architecture design, validation, and verification.
- Familiarity with development and quality process (FMEA/FTA methods/tools).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for internal and external customers.
- Strong documentation skills and practices .
- Ability to operate independently in a matrix organization and navigate complex business systems.
- Good technical leadership, planning and organization/control skills and approaches challenges with a positive attitude.
- Comfortable in presenting and ability to adapt to audience.
Our Environment
- Up to 25% of travel may be required . Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
- The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
