This position is an essential part of Sherwin’s manufacturing team. This position is responsible for the operations of all 4 filling machines and being capable of operating each machine at the goal productivity level. Employee must coordinate with the batchmaker and production utility employees engaged in production line activities to ensure that company policies regarding safety, housekeeping, quality, cost and production are met. He/she is responsible for machine trouble shooting, and coordinating machine set-up and minor repair with maintenance. He/she will also have responsibility in training new and current employees, and assisting in the writing and updating of Standard Operating Procedures compatible to the ISO 9000 format.

Rotating Weekly Schedule 48 hour/week (Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) & 36 hour/week (Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday)

- Obtain and follow proper filling instructions to include correct batch ticket, correct pallet, date codes, completed line change over form
- Perform 1st “Perfect Appearance Audits” as required, including 1st and last case inspections
- Identify proper product delivery system
- Set up and change over equipment to unclude but not limited to:
- Purging
- Nest Plate Selection
- Reservoir Cleaning
- Bag Changes Selection of correct Valve or Drum systems to deliver product to filler
- Perform preventative maintenance function
- Must be familiar with sampling procedures, pipe and valve changes
- Knowledge of programming of container, and carton coding devices
- Must perform minor/routine equipment adjustments
- Knowledge of master and fill rexes and understanding of the entire batch ticket
- Responsibility for cleanliness of production area during and immediately following assigned shift.
- Performance of Quality Inspections and retain collection
- Perform safety function including inspection for safe work habits of line employees (observation cards) and Pre Safety Startup
- Participates or understands quality system (ISO9000) audits, VPP continuation and 8 focus areas of responsibility
- Participate on continuous improvement teams as needed
- Assist in writing job procedures in ISO Format
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating packaging equipment such as robotics, filling machines, case packers, or labelers, etc.
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring the quality of raw materials and/or finished goods
- Basic knowledge of reading and mathematics, shop computerized tracking system and mechanical aptitude.
