JOB SUMMARY:
Coordinate the assignment and purchasing of sheetfed paper, roll stock and cartons. Generally, focuses on either sheetfed paper or roll stock and cartons, but is fully cross trained in both areas.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES:
- Calculates sheet size and quantity of sheet stock for covers and inserts for each new order and purchases accordingly to assure availability of paper at press time. Makes revisions to entered information as needed for quantity, date, or materials changes.
- Determines type and quantity of cartons required for each job added to the schedule and purchases the cartons to assure availability by job ship dates. Makes revisions to entered information as needed for quantity, date, or materials changes.
- Calculates web requirements for stocking program and enters requirements into Technique to create purchasing information.
- Runs Purchase Drill Down report to purchase paper and maintains requirement, reservations and purchase order fields to delete obsolete information.
- Enters carton usage by job into Technique to properly record actual materials used for the job using information from Bindery tally sheets and Shipping Recaps.
- Determines half web requirements, filling out Slitter Request or purchase order for outside slitting.
- Opens purchase orders for incoming customer paper, opens paper lot numbers for new SOH or customer paper, matches vendor order numbers to our purchase orders, files purchase orders, and processes and files paperwork on paper received.
- Prepares Paper Usage Report to communicate to management amounts and types of paper used monthly and Carton Inventory report to communicate carton inventory position to Cost Accounting
- Coordinates requests for samples or dummy books, obtaining samples of paper, typing letters and transmittals to accompany samples, and filing all such requests.
- Coordinates process of claims for rejected stock, gathering paperwork and samples of rejected stock, filling out credit memo or customer form, preparing transmittal and adding the claim to Excel report of rejected stock.
- Attend’s evening production meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year technical school or six months related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess of strong attention to details
- Ability to produce error free work
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Familiar with Technique Operating system
- Working knowledge of Web Offset Printing
- Understanding of basic printing concepts and terminology
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
