Job Summary The Senior Clinical Informatics Analyst demonstrates a clinical background with a special interest and expertise in use of the electronic medical record and other technology that enhances clinical practice. Acts as a liaison between assigned departments, facilities, providers and Information Technology (IT) staff in order to facilitate optimal use of applications. Use of analytical skills and experiences to investigate or escalate support issues. Incorporate appropriate presentation techniques to support and/or lead training sessions. Assist in the creation and maintenance of training documentation. Responsible to assist assigned departments, geographical areas or specific functions with utilization of Sanford's electronic medical record (EMR) and associated clinical technology. Leads clinical support for implementation of electronic medical records (EHR) systems in new locations and serves as a resource after implementation. Able to research, analyze and make recommendations for application workflow improvements. Guide cross-cultural, interdisciplinary teams across the care continuum. Create shared meaning, purpose, and goals among teams. Create and analyze reports using multiple reporting mechanisms. Perform with a high level of customer service with all support and training requirements. Promote and participate in a team approach. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software required. Comfortable managing change with excellent problem solving skills. Time management and prioritization necessary on a daily basis. Proficient verbal and written communication is essential. A positive attitude and excellent customer service skills are expected. Fosters a work environment of respect, professionalism, accountability and teamwork. Key areas of accountability include individual and classroom training, onsite and remote end-user support, development of supporting clinical workflows, investigation and resolution of application and workflow issues, and participation in committees that promote both the standardization and optimization of clinical informatics changes to Sanford's EMR and other associated technology. May require some periodic day and overnight travel, non-business hour scheduled support or meetings as well as on-call rotation for end-user support. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develops training programs for teaching staff about health information and documentation techniques. Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language. Uses multiple presentation tools and techniques, adapting/fitting them to audience and topic. Practices positive collaboration and converts difficult interactions into productive ones. Plans, implements, and manages change in a variety of significant settings. Anticipates customer needs, focusing efforts to proactively meet needs and exceed customer expectations. Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies. Makes sound recommendations when faced with complex and contradictory alternatives. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds. Responds to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work. Demonstrates an ability to adapt to continuous change in work demands. Proceeds without seeking unnecessary permission. Possesses knowledge of tools and techniques for designing and implementing new processes. Takes ownership of meeting process and outcome. Recognizes and adapts to differences in background, culture, language and work style when working with others.
Qualifications
Education Details Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Experience Details Minimum of six years experience in healthcare setting required including two years of informatics experience. Previous experience in nursing/healthcare management, education, development, and/or healthcare information management preferred. Possess analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in Home Health & Hospice required.
License/Certification
Details Licensed/registered in a clinical field required. Certification in an accredited informatics or project management specialty preferred.
