The
Flight Nurse position will work with our team of air transportation experts to safely transport patients to and from medical facilities as well as scene call work. Safety, effective and efficient patient care is a key pillar of our services, therefore you'll work on a quality, professional team that is committed to high safety standards for the crew and our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assessing each situation to determine the best course of action to support, monitor and treat patients in critical care situations.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to manage the critically ill or injured adult or pediatric patient and support physicians' orders.
- Share shift change info to transitioning team and follow protocols to maintain accurate company and regulatory documentation and records.
- Responsible for completion and submission of electronic patient care record for each dispatched flight within the specified time frame.
- Responsible for daily base checks, which includes narcotic count.
- Provide pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility maintaining thorough patient care documentation.
- Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences.
- Maintain documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, safety, and advanced procedures.
- Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by emergency programs.
- Take pride in providing a safe, clean, and well-stocked aircraft environment, maintains regular equipment and base checks, and complies with safety standards and briefings.
- Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public.
- Functions as a medical flight member.
- ttends pre-mission briefings and mission debriefing and completes necessary documentation.
- Assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and Pilot assistance when needed, i.e. radio, navigational, and visual observation activities.
- Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment prior to liftoff.
- Conducts aircraft safety briefings as needed.
- Responsible for filling open or vacant shifts within assigned area as deemed appropriate by the Regional Director.
- Committed to being on-time, reliable, professional, and meeting our elevated standards in safety and service.
- Use appropriate communication methods to help facilitate coordination of efforts between departments, vendors and team members.
- Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, either orally or in writing.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in emergency or intensive care unit setting.
- Current RN license in the states served by the assigned area.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (P)ALS.
Preferred:
- Flight experience preferred.
- Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, ITLS/PHTLS preferred.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred at time of hire, but will be required prior to active flight status.
- Advanced certification (CEN, CCRN, CFRN) preferred (required within 12 months of hire)
- Will be required to obtain trauma certification within 6 months of hire.

Physical Requirements:
- Requires activities requiring a moderate amount of standing, sitting and walking.
- Able to conduct activities requiring a moderate to rigorous amount of static pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting.
- Capable of lifting 40 lbs floor to bench height.
- Ability to hear routine aircraft noises.
- Maintains a "duty" weight (body weight + uniform/equipment - helmet not included) of less than 230lbs for Rotor Wing (Helicopter) operations.
- Must be able to wear a commercially available respirator mask with proper fit when requested.
- Requires close and distant visual capability.
- Periodic hands to key ability (typing).
- Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
Environmental Conditions: Entails exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions, moderate exposure to routine office noises, electrical or mechanical hazards and frequent exposure to an aircraft hanger environment where the employee may be exposed to loud aircraft noise, fumes, gases, odors, dust particles and mechanical/electrical and chemical hazards.

This base is positioned on and provides service to a US Military Installation. In addition to the standard REACH background check or REACH DOT background check, all hires for this role will be required to complete and clear additional and robust US Government background checks, including, but not limited to:
- DOD Tier 1 background check and CAC clearance
- Child Background Check (CBC), including digital and/or ink fingerprints
