We are a local manufacturing company with an air-conditioned facility located right in Cheektowaga, NY. We are seeking for a qualified Bag Set-Up Technician for 2nd shift.
Shift: Monday through Friday 2:45PM to 11PM.
Wage Range: $20 to $21 / hour depending on experience. 2nd shift differential is an additional $1 / hour.
The Bag Set-Up Technician is responsible for setting up the bag machines, which convert rolls of film into bags to fill each job order. This position ensures that bag machines are running to achieve maximum efficiency. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting ability in order to make precise set ups on the machines.

Position Overview:
- Set up bag machines according to the schedule and supervise bag operators to ensure continuous and efficient operation by making appropriate adjustments to the machines, changing rolls promptly, and ensuring a constant supply of materials by detecting details, diagnosing problems, following instructions, instructing others, troubleshooting problems, and using judgment.
- Operate the bag machines while the operators are at lunch or break.
- Organize the workplace by delivering the finished product to the correct location, by disposing of scrap and garbage, and by picking up trash around the plant at the end of the shift.
- Work effectively with all departments, including Bag Operators and the Production Department in a team environment to develop multi-functional solutions for customers.
- Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are successfully met.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures and maintain work area per food safety requirements.
- Perform special projects as assigned within or outside the department or position to assist in the success of ProAmpac-Buffalo Division’s objectives such as training bag operators.

- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Bag Operator or eqivalent.
- Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to communicate effectively with Bag Operators and other personnel.
- Ability to read, comprehend and write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers or fellow employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral or diagram form and to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
- Some knowledge of flexographic packaging is required to advise bag operators.
- Ability to read, follow and complete work orders, production schedules, standardized forms/shift paperwork, and specification sheets for the job.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
