As Safety Coordinator, you uphold and improve Health & Safety programs at Plastipak’s largest site located in Jackson Center, Ohio. This is an excellent career opportunity to join an organization recognized as an America’s Safest Companies by EHS Today.
You Will
- Lead, manage and support Health & Safety programs, inclusive of systems, process and protocols, controls, PPE, Associate education and awareness, compliance, governance and continuous improvement.
- Ensure legal, regulatory and company compliance. As program administrator, you are accountable for documentation and record keeping, reporting and implementing updates. In addition, you represent the site to outside parties.
- Perform studies, audits and analysis to compile reports and provide recommendations to management. In addition, evaluate accidents, property damage and near miss incidents, seeking root cause, then collaborate with colleagues to implement corrective and preventative action plans.
- Conduct inspections and investigations when accidents or injuries occur. Manage worker’s compensation process to facilitate subsequent claims and documentation.
- Proactively shape a Safety First culture at the Jackson Center site. Administer Associate training and communications, which includes developing new and updating existing training and communications, and overall championing one of our prime values at Plastipak: Safety.
- Apply your expertise in the form of consultation, guidance and recommendations to improvements in processes, systems, procedures, equipment, etc. to strengthen environmental health & safety.
You Have
- Associate’s Degree (A.S.) in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or similar program.
- Minimum of three (3) years of EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of OSHA/EPA compliance and environmental protection.
- Proven success developing and implementing training and communications programs that proactively shape a safe work environment.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with Associates, Management and third parties.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills, with proven ability to drive sustained change and achieve improved business outcomes.
