The Design Engineer is responsible for the design and development of rigid plastic containers and related blow molds, injection molds and tooling. You Will:
- Design and draw preliminary sketches and detailed drawings; using CAD software.
- Analyze product or equipment specifications, performance requirements, and reports to determine design feasibility.
- Research and evaluate customer design proposals, specifications, and other data.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical information concerning manufacturing techniques, equipment, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations.
- Recommend design modifications to increase performance and eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
- Analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance requirements.
- Coordinate with Project Engineers, FEA Engineers, and Technicians to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, provide technical information, and prepare design modifications as required.
- Provide feedback to Project Engineers on customer problems and needs.
- Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.
- Design test control apparatus and equipment and develop procedures for testing products.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- Minimum of five years of design engineering experience; plastics or molding experience preferred
- Proficiency using CAD/CAE software; CATIA V5 preferred
- Experience with Abaqus or other simulation software preferred
- Knowledge and use of related computer software, i.e.: SAP, MS Word, Excel and Access.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to operate as an effective subject matter expert and resource for peers, management, customers, and vendors.
