Wm. P. Young Co., a non-affiliated company of Plastipak Packaging, Inc. is seeking an experienced Machine Design Engineer.  In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop concepts and designs for innovative, cutting-edge machines and interface with some of our customers, a group of the largest global consumer goods manufacturers. You are expected to handle multiple mechanical engineering design projects in our fast-paced environment, drive toward results, and communicate across various levels of our organization. This is an onsite position located in Plymouth, MI.

You Will:

• Design and detail machines and/or machine parts
• Create/Update solid models of mechanical components and custom parts
• Assist in the preparation of machine operator manuals
• Maintain system and engineering database
• Provide technical training as required
• Ensure continuity of design and BOM structure for the department
• Comply with current governmental and safety regulations
• Create assembly and detail drawings fully dimensioned and properly toleranced for manufacture
• Develop specifications and methods
• Confirm machine and system capabilities by performing feasibility testing

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
• 5-7+ years of experience designing machinery
• Ability to create dimensioned detail drawings
• AutoCAD and Solidworks 3D experience
