RESPONSIBILITIES | WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Supportive Learning Environment: Paraprofessionals assist the teacher in creating a welcoming, supportive classroom where every student feels valued and empowered to learn.
- Individualized Attention: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to understand and complete assignments, and ensuring they stay engaged with their learning.
- Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and a productive learning atmosphere.
- Communication Facilitation: Paraprofessionals act as a bridge between students and teachers, helping to clarify instructions and ensuring that each student's needs are understood and met.
- Instructional Assistance: Aid in the preparation and delivery of instructional materials, adapting resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Emotional Support: Offer a compassionate ear and a supportive presence, helping students navigate emotional and social challenges.
- Team Collaboration: Paraprofessionals work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to provide a holistic approach to each student’s education and well-being.
QUALIFICATIONS | WHAT YOU BRING
- Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in special education, psychology, or a related field is a plus.
- Relevant Experience: Experience working with children with special needs or autism (e.g., RBT, mental health technician, teacher assistant, teacher aide)
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy and Patience: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Teamwork Mindset: Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of educators and specialists.
