Position Description:
- Provides direct and indirect basic medical care to meet the physiological, psychological, and emotional needs of the patient within the framework established by the correctional system.
- Obtains history and performs mental health examinations to determine patient health status and communicate all findings.
- Responds to and initiates care for mental health emergencies throughout the facility.
- Conducts rounds in the medical and infirmary units, sick call visits, and chronic care management.
- Schedules and performs laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Identifies patient health conditions and prescribes treatment based on diagnosis with appropriate and timely referrals.
- Formulates a working diagnosis, develops and implements a treatment plan, and evaluates/modifies therapeutic regimens to promote positive patient outcomes.
- Maintains overall mental health responsibility for the management of mental health/clinical issues of each patient, including those services provided by consultants and outside resources.
- Tracks and understands the healthcare activities undergone by each patient for whom NaphCare had responsibility.
