Job SummaryPosition is responsible for providing advanced radiological physics support in radiation therapy, diagnostic imaging, and health physics.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master of Science in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics or Medical Physics.
Licenses/Certifications: Licensed in Medical Physics or eligible for licensure.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Two (2) to four (4) years of clinical experience.
- Member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.
Principal Accountabilities
- Plans and controls the distribution of radiation to patients.
- Plans and implements initial patient radiation dosage specified by physician.
- Documents radiation treatment information for federal and state requirements.
- Monitors and maintains the equipment and techniques being used, and maintains records of the equipment for accrediting agencies.
- Keeps current dosimetry records on the treatment of each patient and in the department charts. Maintains computer records of radiation dosages for evaluation of weekly dosages.
- Participates in the Medical Radiology and Isotope committee.
- Serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
