Job description Our client, a well-known multinational consumer goods company, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for their 2nd shift operation. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible in assisting machine breakdowns when they occur and troubleshoot as required to ensure minimal downtime during the shift. Provide support and follow direction with the 1st shift maintenance lead as required. Key Duties & Responsibilities - Training provided on industry specific equipment.
- Install, setup, clean and repair packaging line equipment (i.e. shrink-bundling lines, shrink sleever, steam heat tunnel, conveyors, tapers, weigh scale).
- Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of systems using electrical, mechanical, and processing skills. Maintains production efficiency and quality by troubleshooting equipment problems and determining root cause. Makes effective repairs and adjustments to equipment in a timely manner.
- Performs and documents scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PMs) to insure equipment efficiency.
- Demonstrates ability to setup and changeover all Packaging Line equipment in a timely manner, to insure minimum downtime and smooth startup.
- Operates Packaging line and related equipment including startup, adjustments, clearing jams, manual operations, and shutdown.
- Follows applicable waste, scrap reduction, and recycling guidelines.
- Follows work instructions and insures adherence to the Quality Control Plan and departmental SOPs.
- Completes regular documented safety audits and initiates corrective action, as needed.
- Follows all applicable safety rules and policies including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), HAZCOM, Process Safety, Lock Out/Tag Out and Emergency Action Plan.
- Assists with completing incident and accident reports, as needed.
- Fabricate parts when necessary for in-line and process improvements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or company Manager.
- Work in an Autonomous Maintenance environment. Willing to train new line lead operators on equipment. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- May engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and products.
- Wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) as directed by policy.
- Follow all safety requirements & guidelines.
- Maintain safe working area by keeping clutter from accumulating, and continuous cleaning.
Qualifications
- Be part of a team that ensures a safe work environment.
- Able to work from 3:30pm – 12:00am M-F (8-hour shift with 2 paid 15 min. breaks & 30 min. unpaid lunch break)
- On time attendance.
- Occasional OT may be requested.
- 2+ years’ experience working in an industrial maintenance role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret documents such as procedure manuals, schematics, charts, diagrams, etc.
- Electrical experience with components, switches and drives a plus.
- Experience with OSHA safety rules/policies and practices is preferred.
- Ability to perform work in a mature and professional manner, demonstrate personal responsibility, perform all assigned duties and good time management.
- Steel toe shoes required.
