What you will do:
The Mechanical Engineer is a product support engineering role that will report to the Mechanical Engineer Manager within Special Hazards and Foam R&D. You will be supporting fire protection equipment for a variety of applications and industries. Activities include product support to the business by working with manufacturing, quality and technical services, working with regulatory approval agencies to maintain compliance to global standards and working in a global R&D organization to design, test and validate our products. You will have opportunities to revise and improve products, reduce product costs and implement your changes into the business. You will interface with many internal functional departments and external resources or customers as required for your product line responsibilities.
How you will do it:
As a Mechanical Engineer you will work effectively in a cross-functional team. You will lead root cause analysis of difficult design or manufacturing problems and demonstrate creative thinking in problem solving and design activities. You have good time management skills and can manage multiple projects and prioritize to meet critical deadlines. You work hands on with the manufacturing and R&D team and clearly communicate design specifications, test criteria and are receptive to feedback. You are data driven and understand the engineering tools to generate the necessary data for decision making. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
What we look for:
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (minimum)
Two years relevant work experience as a mechanical engineer
Experienced based understanding of fundamental engineering theories, mathematics, mechanics, and physical science concepts to the job
Practical knowledge of best practices for manufacturing and design
Ability to lead a small team, good written and oral communications skills, flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
Ability to write reports and convey detailed technical information
High attention to detail and solid organizational skills
Preferred
Familiarity with DFMEA (design failure mode and effect analysis)
Functional knowledge of VAVE
Experience with phase-gate design processes
Ability for occasional travel
Proficiency of MSOffice, PTC Creo and Windchill
