What you will do
The Production Quality Engineer will support the quality management system within the manufacturing facility, which produces CPVC pipes and fittings. The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining quality functions throughout the plant. This includes maintaining the ISO Quality Management System and related records/documents, coordinating and/or conducting internal and external audits, communicating with internal and external customers regarding quality complaints and corrective actions, and participating in continuous improvement projects. Our Quality Engineer performs as an integral member of the team by using broad theory and principles in addition to advanced knowledge and skills within their specified discipline to conduct day to day analysis, provide quality assurance support, and refine production methods, ensuring required standards are being met. Some problems may be vaguely defined, requiring reasoning, understanding, and consideration outside of standardized processes.
How you will do it
Contributing to safety efforts within the area by applying a safety-first attitude and adhering to all standards.
Recommending, initiating, implementing, and verifying solutions for continuous quality and process improvement.
Coordinating inspections or audits of regulatory agencies (FM, NSF, UL, ISO) and ensuring that processes and products meet the requirements agreed by these agencies.
Managing the Quality Management System to ensure ISO standards are met.
Preparing reports on KPIs such as ERI, YRR, IPPM, OEE, and Scrap.
Maintaining and scheduling calibration of essential tools.
Analyzing internal quality issues and field returns/complaints and coordinating activities to implement actions to improve manufacturing processes based on feedback.
Supporting new product introductions using tools such as Control Plans, FMEA, and PPAP.
Applying statistical methodology including capability studies and analysis, statistical process control, design of experiments, measurements systems analysis, among others.
Evaluating contents of reports from all shifts and ensuring documentation is correct and complete.
Actively participating in Lean and Six Sigma Process Improvement projects.
Supporting quality technicians with technical and administrative tasks (ordering spare parts, troubleshooting software, etc).
Providing training instruction to both quality department and operations personnel in support of the quality management system, as required.
Maintaining and supporting SPC system and software.
Actively and effectively communicating with management from various departments in both verbal and written form.
Participating in assigned training, JCMS, Kaizen, and other business management and improvement activities.
Maintaining a respectful workplace environment.
Performing all other duties as assigned.
What we look for
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1+ year of manufacturing and quality engineering experience Familiarity with ISO standards.
Strong team and interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead and influence others to make positive change.
Demonstrable experience in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrate accurate knowledge and experience with various Quality Management System analysis tools and techniques.
Communicate effectively with all levels in the plant.
Demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, and a positive work environment.
Preferred
Working in a manufacturing environment.
Using Minitab and other SPC tools.
Participating in and/or leading Kaizen and Six Sigma projects.
SQC, AFS, and other affiliations.
