The Role and the Company
The Human Resources Generalist role is based at our cement plant in Fleetwood, PA and reports directly to the Plant HR Manager. We are looking for a dynamic, engaging, and self-driven human resources professional to join our Northeast Region team. This position will provide support to the field HR Managers and the employees within their areas of responsibility which includes our plants in Fleetwood, PA, Camden, NJ, Hamburg, PA and Sparta, NJ.

Here’s what you’ll get to do:
- Manage processes in Workday and JDE systems to support annual benefits enrollment, salary increases, and other personnel change transactions
- Drive the hiring process in HR Systems for both salaried and hourly positions, including but not limited to posting positions, recruiting events, sourcing candidates, and onboarding new hires
- Provide guidance on HR systems, policies, and processes
- Become proficient on all company policies and provide guidance and interpretation to all levels of management on company policies including progressive discipline
- Assist employees with inquiries about HR related topics including but not limited to leave of absence, benefits, and payroll
- Track regional development program for identified potential succession candidates for key roles
- Ensure company and leader compliance with federal and state employment law, as well as Company policies and standard operating procedures
- Administer and manage HR Projects and Programs, including exit interviews, employee referral, employee recognition and leave of absence programs
- Assist in the identification, development, and delivery of training to meet regulatory requirements and business needs.
- Participate in Talent Development processes including succession planning, development plans, and trainee programs.
- Provide guidance and assistance with employee relations matters
- Participate in the recruiting processes
- Work in close coordination with Labor Relations and Safety departments
Essential Experience and Skills
- At least 3 years of HR experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field strongly preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Strong ability to work independently and collaborate with a group
- Skilled at adapting to project constraints and resolving problems
- Ability to complete projects on time with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or similar setting
- Strong knowledge of employment law and recruiting/staffing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and systems
- Willingness to travel
Preferred Experience and Skills
- MSHA knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of Labor Relations/Collective bargaining/Union Avoidance
- HR professional certification
- Workday or similar HRIS systems
- Kronos
Work Environment
- Role operates primarily a professional office environment, but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels
