Heidelberg Materials is looking for a Technical Services Manager - Concrete. Reporting to the General Manager, the Technical Services Manager provides leadership and direction for the QC/QA group for Heidelberg’s Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) division in British Columbia. This position will work closely with various sales teams and operational management in Greater Vancouver, the Okanagan and Vancouver Island. The Technical Services Manager is the technical expert when dealing with engineering problems from customers and other suppliers and is responsible for the quality of the materials provided.
This position plays a critical role in providing technical direction for our RMC division as we strive to be the most sustainable concrete producer in our market and deliver value to our customers.
What You’ll Get To Do:
- Provide technical and engineering direction, management, and leadership for QC/QA employees in the Concrete division assisting the business to achieve both our profitability and sustainability goals.
- Provide technical and engineering support in the field for a variety of customer or contractor problems and is the expert in such matters.
- Work with consultants, architects and engineers on concrete specifications and innovations.
- Manage the ongoing maintenance of product mix library while considering margin on materials, risk, and performance.
- Analyze field, lab, RMC, raw materials data, and test results in solving plant or customer problems, conducting mix optimization, and/or working towards sustainability goals.
- Develops, implements, and monitors quality standards, processes, and controls in RMC.
- Support product development for new RMC initiatives.
- Liaise with internal material vendors to create vertical synergies.
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering required, (P.Eng) in Civil or Materials
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in RMC/Aggregates industry
- Minimum 6 years in supervision/management
- Demonstrated experience in leadership, problem solving, strategic thinking, decision making, and ability to influence and persuade others (internally and externally)
- Proficient computer skills and technical writing ability.
- In good standing with EGBC and familiar with Permit to Practice requirements.
Work Environment:
- Role operates primarily a professional office environment, but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels
