Job Summary:
MRI Technologist coordinates and performs a wide variety of quality diagnostic studies in the specialty of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and may assist in performance of procedures. The MRI Technologist must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the following: MRI physics, MRI safe practices, anatomy/physiology, safe patient transfer and positioning techniques, and ethical and professional conduct. The MRI Technologists prepares, administers and documents activities related to contrast media. The incumbent is responsible for the operation
of a variety of equipment used to image and document the anatomy. The MRI Technologist ensures accurate documentation, effective communications and demonstrates knowledge of age-appropriate criteria when working with all patients, which include high risk and critically ill patients. Responsible for accurate charge capture.
Job Duties:
Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed independent practitioner for diagnostic interpretation or therapeutic intervention.
Applies the principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to the patient, self and others.
Responsible for correlating the clinical indications and approved established protocols by applying the appropriate pulse sequences and other technical factors related to data acquisition.
Demonstrates proficiency with multiple computerized systems.
Demonstrates proficiency when working with picture archiving and communicating systems (PACS) to transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images.
Educates patient, answers any/all concerns/questions, prior to executing the study.
