- Respond to maintenance requests from drivers, EHS/DOT Manger, shop foreperson, transportation supervisor, and fleet manager
- Comply with all State, Federal and DFA EHS/DOT policies and procedures
- Maintain, repair inspect and/or replace brakes; steering mechanisms; springs; air bags; lights; air conditioners; water, fuel, oil, and air filters; coolant and chemicals; transmissions; tire air pressure; tire tread; chassis; brakes; drive lines; u-joints; air tanks; batteries; air lines; power cords; wipers; windshields; mirrors; engines; drive train components or other equipment as necessary
- Conduct periodic inspections, diagnose problems, and take action to bring equipment to optimal operating condition and eliminate unsafe operating conditions
- Verify equipment complies with DOT specifications
- Perform annual vehicle inspection in compliance with state regulations
- Conduct annual yearly tests in compliance with state regulations
- Respond to accidents or inoperable vehicles to transport equipment back to garage for repair
- Operates arc and tig welding equipment
