Cox Communications is seeking a
Lead Network
Planning Engineer who will focus on innovative and creative ways around network planning, including maximizing network capability and capacity by monitoring performance and utilization, building sophisticated models, and forecasting and driving how the company invests in the network. This role will be focused on building the groundwork and foundation around Converged Services (IP, MPLS, Optical), Next Generation Video, and Spectrum Alignment, and lead major programs from initiation to building end-to-end tactical plans. This role will be focused on providing advanced leadership to the Integrated Network Planning team on strategic objectives to support the Engineering and Product roadmap to support the business.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Strong skills in building strategic vision and knowledge to support network forecasting scenarios and calculations based on future network roadmap, network capabilities, and capacity across DOCSIS, MPLS, Fiber, IP, and PON networks.
- Strong experience in telecommunication infrastructure to lead and drive next-generation planning activities to support Video Product strategy and Cox Communication's Spectrum roadmap
- Skilled experience in the Cox Business model who can understand and drive conversations around supporting and planning CB network, customers, sales, product, and marketing.
- Lead and manage all planning activities to support the POI to POR process, communicate plans with a broader audience, and achieve buy-in across cross-functional teams
- Performs an advanced range of network analysis. Build executive-level analysis reports and present them to the senior team of the findings to support the business
- Translate strategic objectives into technical requirements for the network domain
- Expert working knowledge of OSL model, MPLS, HFC, Fiber, PON, DOCSIS, and ISIS to help the Engineering organization deliver top-level plans
- Develops reports and documentation to communicate results clearly and succinctly
- Understand the limitations of different network hardware and software
- Identifies, researches, and resolves discrepancies in analytical procedures or cross-functional methods
Related Tasks:
- Analyzes current network configuration, performance metrics, and business needs, recommending future infrastructure improvements
- Coordinate with teams across the Engineering organization to enhance the capability to support POI to POR process
- Work with corporate and regional engineers to operationalize and document capacity plans
- Work with EMO, INP, Engineering, Construction, Product, Marketing, Sales, and Finance teams to create, communicate, coordinate, and execute Plan-of-Intent (POI)
- Work with Atlanta engineering teams and vendors to develop long-term plans.
- Provides recommendations for operational efficiencies and process improvements and assists in policy development to support change initiatives
- Conducts statistical analyses to create actionable insights for department leadership
- With guidance, presents data and provides recommendations to department leadership for their use in making operational decisions, identifying process improvements, and developing policy development to support change initiatives
- Provides input to leadership on performance issues and operational process improvements
- This is a hybrid position
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations research, computer science, or a related discipline and 6 years' experience in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 18 years' experience in a related field
- Experience working in an environment utilizing DOCSIS, HFC network, and home routers/gateways technologies.
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi 6, and 6E including wireless encryption (WPA2/WPA3, WPA, WEP), WPS, DFS, and WMM
- Experience in Unix/Linux environments, and networking protocols.
- Experience working Video Networking, IP, and DOCSIS3.0, 3.1 & 4.0
- Experience activating/maintaining CPE per the DOCSIS, PacketCable, and SNMP specifications.
- Experience researching and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
- Experience working with large data sets, and recommending innovative analytical solutions
- Experience in data analysis and methods
- Experience developing automated reporting
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications in a work setting with strong knowledge in Excel
Preferred:
- R/SAS/Alteryx and SQL or similar analytical database and coding skills
- Experience debugging analytical code and processes
- Knowledge of DOCSIS and fiber specifications, protocols, test procedures, and debugging
USD 106,700.00 - 177,900.00 per year
Compensation:Compensation includes a base salary of $106,700.00 - $177,900.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
