Job Summary As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) II at Cox Automotive, you will be a pivotal player in managing, supporting, and facilitating infrastructure operations for developers building software systems. This role requires a unique blend of software development and IT operations experience, where you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, quality, and performance of our cloud-hosted applications. The successful SRE hire must be a self-starter capable of analyzing the infrastructure needs for the supported team(s), make recommendations, as well as implement the technical operations needs for the assign team.
Requirements Previous SRE or DevOps experience required. A strong background in software development or system administration is essential, coupled with proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Bash, or TypeScript. Experience with tools and technologies including Splunk, Terraform, AWS, GitHub, and automation technologies will be highly beneficial. AWS certifications are preferred as well as continuous training.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are vital in this role, as you'll collaborate with various stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Strong initiative is required as you should be capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities Your role as a Site Reliability Engineer II at Cox Automotive encompasses a range of critical responsibilities aimed at ensuring the reliability, quality, and performance of our AWS cloud-hosted applications. You will be expected to:
- Possess a Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and 2 years of related experience. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a Master's degree and up to 2 years related experience; or 14 years experience in a related field.
- Develop and standardize release pipelines for critical systems, ensuring smooth and efficient deployment processes that minimize downtime and enhance overall system reliability.
- Propose and implement new cloud-first technologies in AWS to continuously improve system reliability, scalability, and performance, keeping abreast of the latest industry trends and best practices.
- Assist with and facilitate on-prem to AWS migrations as needed and take ownership of managing infrastructure operations for developers, providing the necessary support and resources to facilitate their software development efforts.
- Measure and optimize system performance, utilizing a range of monitoring and diagnostic tools to identify areas for improvement and proactively address potential issues.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency incidents, employing rigorous incident response protocols to minimize impact and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
- Manage change effectively, ensuring that all system changes are carefully planned, tested, and implemented in accordance with established change management procedures.
- Support process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline and automate operational workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Monitor key SRE metrics, logs, traces, latency, traffic, errors, saturation, and service level objectives, utilizing data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement and optimize system performance.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of DevOps and SRE principles, applying them effectively in daily operations to promote collaboration, transparency, and shared responsibility across cross-functional teams.
- Actively contribute to an agile culture of ongoing knowledge sharing, continuous training, and relentless improvements, participating in team meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance your skills and expertise.
- Provide constructive feedback and code reviews, collaborating with colleagues to ensure that software code is of the highest quality, adheres to best practices, and meets performance and security standards.
USD 85,500.00 - 128,300.00 per year
Compensation:Compensation includes a base salary of $85,500.00 - $128,300.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
