Role overview
Cognizant is looking for a driven, hands-on Application Diagnostics Engineer in Boucherville, Quebec reporting to the Head of the Application Engineering Department. You will be responsible for supporting customers in their vehicle development; In this context, you will be responsible for managing engineering projects, requirements and test plans involving modifications (software, mechanical and electrical) to existing products and contribute to the growth of transportation electrification.
What you’ll do
- Assist clients and external teams in developing vehicle software for various applications: all-electric or hybrid vehicle control, multi-speed transmission, generator, etc.
- Assist clients in selecting powertrain products and designing vehicles.
- Support clients on-site or remotely for commissioning Dana TM4 products or for technical meetings.
- Support clients on-site or remotely to analyze vehicle problems and identify the source:
- Conduct an initial analysis based on the client's initial information.
- Work jointly with the client to establish the test protocol to repeat the problem and identify the source.
- Develop and perform vehicle performance simulations.
- Develop and improve internal simulation tools and diagnostic tools used.
- Support defining client requirements, establishing feasibility, and determining the amount of work needed for modifications/new software developments.
- Support pre-project analysis simulations and risk definition related to its implementation.
- Actively participate in proposing and carrying out innovation activities to improve our products (Performance, Reliability, Safety, etc.).
- Make technical presentations at all levels of the client's organization.
What you bring to the role
- Master's/bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechatronic, or Software Engineering.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in software development and systems engineering or similar.
- Good knowledge of electrodynamic systems.
- Knowledge of software and control systems.
- Knowledge of Matlab Simulink/ Knowledge of C/C++/ Knowledge of Python – Nice to have one of the skills.
- Knowledge of CAN data buses- Mandatory
- Customer service oriented. - Mandatory
- Investigative and diagnostic skills.
- Strong interest in teamwork.
- Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written).
- Available to travel up to 25% of the time (Within Canada).
