The Nurse Manager of Trauma Program will be responsible for the coordination of health care services for all trauma patients during acute and continued care periods. The Nursing Manager of Trauma Program will assist the organized multi-disciplinary trauma team to develop a philosophy of care consistent with providing quality service, including the development of educational activities related to the care of critically injured patients.
The Trauma Program Nurse Manager will work closely with the Trauma Services Medical Director and other hospital medical staff, leadership, and pre-hospital care providers to coordinate all aspects of the trauma program and ongoing staff/public education. The Nurse Manager of Trauma Program will be in charge of the strategic direction and leadership for the ongoing effective operation of the Trauma program. The Trauma Program Manager will focus on program development, setting objectives, staff management, clinical, research, and outreach activities of assigned departments of responsibility within the Trauma Program.
The Trauma Program Nursing Manager will communicate routinely with other department managers, directors, hospitalists and medical directors. The RN Manager of Trauma Program will perform in the following roles: coordinator (clinical role model and consultant), educator, and evaluator.
The Nurse Manager of Trauma Program will work in tandem with the Clinical Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department to provide leadership to the team and program. This Nurse Manager of Trauma Program is a member of the management team so the individual will be required to attend the Medical Center Leadership Meetings.
The ideal Nurse Manager of Trauma Department will be MSN prepared with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Trauma Coordinator or Trauma Manager or has worked directly with Trauma ED/ICU patients in a designated trauma center (ACS verified center preferred). The Trauma Program Nursing Manager should have 5 years recent nursing experience in trauma system/care, or emergency departments, critical care or flight medicine. TNCC certification required and CEN certification preferred.
