About This Role
The Retirement Plan Manager Provide day-to-day oversight of the operations and communications for a 401K Plan and a Roth 401K Plan with approximately $1 Billion in assets. This role also has responsibility for overseeing the Multiple Employer Plan for Ace Hardware Corporation’s retail owners and their employees, including serving as the primary Company representative to represent the Plan internally and with retailers to create awareness to the Plan and facilitate retailer input and improve communications with retailers. Provide oversight for the Plan Manager, Trustee, Investment Managers, Investment Consultants, Trustee and Manager of the Rabbi Trust, Deferred Compensation Plan and Auditors. Develop and execute on-going and ad hoc communication for employees and retailers. Responsible for keeping up-to-date with trends and regulatory issues and bringing those ideas and issues to the Ace Hardware Corporation Benefits Committee with a recommendation and in a format to enable decision making. Be the point person and lead any M&A activity for all Qualified and Non-Qualified plans up to and including conversion or terminations. Coordinating Benefit Committee meeting agendas and presenting related agenda items at Committee meetings.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure the accurate funding of payroll withholdings (before tax, after tax, catch up contributions, Roth 401K and Roth 401K catch up) and all company contributions to all plans. Funding of all contribution types including monitoring of all subsidiary and retailer contributions. Lead the reallocation of forfeitures process. Ensure the accurate funding and repayment of loans. Reconciliation of all contributions outlined above, loans, rollovers and forfeitures.
- Manage and coordinate the implementation of plan design changes.
- Actively manage relationships and deliverables of the Fund Manager, Trustee, Investment Managers, Investment Consultant and Auditor. Conduct performance reviews of all relationships. Complete RFP process and make recommendations if changes to relationships are required.
- Stay informed of trends and regulatory issues that may impact the Plan. Communicate same along with a recommended approach in a manner that allows for decision making by the Retirement Committee. Evaluate and analyze the Plan to ensure it is market competitive and cost effective. Manage internal controls and the internal and external audit process and all filings (5500 and others).
- Oversees non discrimination and other testing and provides strategic alternatives for correction of failures and presents options to improve future non discrimination test results.
- Prepare signature ready Forms 5500 and other government fillings.
- Coordinate the quarterly review process. Set agendas that provide the Retirement Plan Committee the ability to execute their fiduciary responsibility. Facilitate and actively participate in quarterly reviews of the Plan with the Committee.
- Work closely with Payroll, Tax, Accounting and Human Resources to maintain all aspects of the Plan.
- Champion effective communication strategies for employees. Own and execute the communication process, both for on-going and special communication to employees and participating MEP employers. Collaborate with HR as required.
- Ascertain and implement product and service offerings from Fidelity and Transamerica to enhance employees’ access to information about the Plan.
Required Skills
- BA/BS degree
- 7-10 years of experience managing defined contribution plans in a large corporate setting
- Proficient knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to retirement (such as ERISA, Fiduciary responsibilities)
- Prior knowledge of payroll, HR and financial systems a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to communicate with employees at all levels with the organization
- Ability to present recommendations to upper management and the Retirement Plan Committee
- Ability to multi-task
- Understand and apply internal controls (segregation of duties)

$98400 - $123000
