The Opportunity
This position works out of our Roseville Distribution Center, MN location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management division.
As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.
The position acts as the primary contact pertaining dangerous goods transportation regulations while providing technical support Abbott Cardiovascular and Neuromodulation sites. The Dangerous Goods Analyst is responsible to ensure Abbott dangerous goods transportation shipments (such as medical devices containing lithium batteries, magnets, and other materials, and biohazard return goods) are regulatorily compliant and that there are no uninterrupted product shipments due to classification, packaging, marking, and labeling and shipping documentation. The position is responsible for the development of worldwide standards, procedures, and tools to ensure Abbott's dangerous goods shipments are appropriately managed.
What You’ll Work On
Classify dangerous good for transport, retain documents and update SAP EHS with the required info.
Provide dangerous goods transportation technical support to all Abbott Cardiovascular and Neuromodulation sites.
Communicate proposed regulatory ruling and changes to applicable Abbott sites by way of our DG SharePoint site.
Develop and implement action plans to address regulatory changes.
Establish and maintain Dangerous Goods procedures and policies worldwide.
Oversee and develop Dangerous Goods and Federal Motor Carrier self-assessment program.
Conduct Dangerous Goods regulatory and program assessments.
Monitor the global DG transport requirements for all modes of transportation (ground, rail, air, and ocean) in the countries in which Abbott CN does business. Read and interpret the regulations for impact on Abbott and the CN divisions.
Maintain and review Dangerous Goods Training Modules
Provide guidance and support to EHS, labeling and R&D teams pertaining to DG requirements
Support Distribution Centers and Manufacturing plants pertaining to DG requirements
Provide DG compliance support to CN locations for Corporate and external audits.
Interact with Carriers/ forwarders for carrier rejections and work to resolve either by corrective action or training and education - even if it is the carrier or forwarder that has made the error.
Develop and maintain DG/freight and logistics analytical data
Develop and maintain reporting metrics
Interpret data on logistics elements, such as transit time, cost, weight
Provide ongoing analyses in areas such as transportation costs, delivery times and other KPI’s
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree Business / Supply Chain
Bachelors Degree EHS (preferred)
0-2 years previous experience in Dangerous Goods, Logistics, Transportation or EHS preferred.
US DOT, IATA, IMDG, and DGSA dangerous goods certifications or able to become certified
Experience with the classification of dangerous goods is preferred
Experience with lithium battery shipments is preferred
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

The base pay for this position is $48,000.00 – $96,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
