The Opportunity
This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA location in the Office of Ethics and Compliance.
As the Senior Manager, Ethics and Compliance, you will be a compliance advisor with all levels of key divisional business functions and provide direct oversight for elements of Abbott’s compliance program related to Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF) and Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
What You’ll Work On
Core Job Responsibilities
The Sr. Manager performs the following with minimal to moderate supervision from the OEC Senior Director:
- Partners with all levels of key divisional business functions to provide moderately complex OEC and divisional policy interpretation and requirements, compliance risk assessment, trend analysis and best practice recommendations related to Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF) and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) compliance.
- Conducts moderately complex policy and procedure reviews and updates related to OEC policy and divisional/affiliate procedures ensuring clarity, applicability, and compliance.
- Develops, delivers and updates OEC’s comprehensive training program on moderately complex OEC and divisional/affiliate policies and procedures, including US Policies and Procedures, Conflicts of Interest, and Abbott's Code of Business Conduct.
- Assists with development and delivery of training on complex OEC and divisional policies and procedures.
- Develops implements, modifies, and oversees corporate and/or divisional monitoring plan to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Assists OEC Director/ECO on compliance audits, oversees the fulfillment of auditors requests, acts as liaison between business and auditors during on site activities, evaluates and responds to all moderately complex preliminary findings and recommendations, guides the business in preparing corrective action to address moderately complex findings and recommendations, and ensures timely completion.
- Directs and participates in Compliance Review Committee meetings. Oversees the tracking and trending and proposes recommendations for corrective actions.
- Provides guidance on proposed initiatives, identifies moderately complex legal and regulatory issues, analyzes and recommends alternatives, and works with legal, as appropriate, to propose solutions to the business.
- Maintains strong cross functional relationships with key divisional leaders through understanding the business objectives and priorities.
Required Qualifications
- BS/BA required.
- Minimum of 6-8 years’ compliance experience.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of healthcare reimbursement coding and billing, with emphasis on government and commercial payer requirements for accurate and compliant healthcare charging/coding and billing.
- BS/BA required.
- Advanced degree preferred. May include fields such as JD, CPA, MBA, Masters relevant fields including Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences.
- Minimum of 6-8 years’ experience with exposure to business functions such as compliance, legal, regulatory affairs, governmental affairs, and/or finance.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite including but not limited to Excel file management, PowerPoint presentations.
- Strong written and verbal skills and an ability to effectively communicate, influence, direct and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree. May include fields such as JD, CPA, MBA, Masters relevant fields including Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences.
- Certification or credential in coding and/or billing, such as Health Information Management (HIM), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or equivalent healthcare coding and/or billing experience.
- Prior experience with direct support in the DME or IDTF compliance environment.

The base pay for this position is $144,100.00 – $288,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
