About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and talented Production Scheduler/Planner Lead to join our dynamic team to drive operational excellence. In this role, you will play a crucial part in optimizing production efficiency, ensuring on-time delivery, maintaining inventory levels for our racks and servers, and leading a team of schedulers/planners. The ideal candidate will have a calm temperament under pressure, exceptional organizational skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, planning, and scheduling, a track record of using Excel for data analysis, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
What You’ll Do
- Team Leadership
- Lead and supervise a team of schedulers/planners to ensure smooth and efficient operations, providing guidance, support, and training as needed
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment
- Point of Contact as the Subject Matter Expert, be the definitive source of knowledge who contributes your expertise to enhance organizational efficiency
- Production Scheduling
- Utilize best practices to develop and implement effective scheduling and planning strategies
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive production schedule based on customer orders, inventory levels, and production capacity for racks and servers
- Collaborate with the production team to create realistic timelines for manufacturing processes
- Analyze and adjust production schedules as necessary to meet changing priorities and customer requirements
- Capacity Planning
- Conduct analysis to ensure optimal resource utilization
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and other departments to address capacity constraints and bottlenecks
- Inventory Management
- Monitor and manage optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials for production
- Implement efficient inventory control measures to minimize waste and maximize profitability
- Data Analysis
- Utilize Excel and other tools to analyze production data, identify trends, generate reports for management review, and make data-driven decisions
- Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements based on data analysis
- Generate regular reports on production performance, highlighting key metrics and areas of improvement
- Supply/Demand Forecasting
- Analyze historical data and market trends to generate accurate demand forecasts
- Work closely with Procurement and Customer Operations teams to understand customer demand and product requirements
- Communication
- Participate in regular meetings to provide updates on production schedules and address any potential issues
- Coordinate with various departments, including production, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless workflow and timely delivery
- Communicate production schedules and changes effectively to all relevant stakeholders
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancements within the production and planning processes
- Implement best practices to optimize resource utilization, reduce lead times, and overall operational efficiency
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure that production schedules align with quality standards and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with the quality control team to address any production issues affecting product quality or delivery timelines
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- 2+ years of related experience
- Proven experience in production scheduling and planning, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Able to keep composure and make clear-sighted decisions while working in a stressful environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting, ability to create complex formulas, macros, and pivot tables
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of ERP Systems and production planning software is a plus
- Knowledge of SAP Systems (preferred)
