Position Summary...
What you'll do...Develops department training and mentoring initiatives by creating and conducting cross-functional team training sessions; providing insights for andmentoring and developing team members; assisting senior management in delegating workload appropriately to team; reviewing and updatingprocess and training documentation; identifying individual and team training needs; providing one-on-one training and mentoring to associates;supporting the function by researching and forecasting tax and audit trends; providing input to company tax saving strategies; developing andpresenting best practices; managing tax-related systems and process changes across the company and subsidiaries to ensure compliance byidentifying opportunities for system and tax form enhancements; documenting and completing enhancement requests; and partnering with keystakeholders to design, test, and implement system improvements.Ensures compliance of the process and managing audits by reviewing the reports for accuracy and integrity of tax returns, forms, and audits byassessing tax work papers related to federal, state, and international operations; working with internal and external auditors to ensure accuratefinancial statement reporting; maintaining and testing processes for Sarbanes-Oxley reporting and compliance; facilitating audit documentationmaintenance and procedural developments by sharing audit process information with compliance; communicating audit process irregularities toappropriate management; managing risk mitigation for tax processes by partnering with cross-functional partners to identify areas of opportunity;developing strategies and processes for improvement; developing relationships with state and local jurisdictional contacts and state auditors tostreamline steps in audit and compliance processes; determining system or process enhancements to ensure compliance; and presentingrecommendations and influencing senior leadership.Manages the execution of tax planning by updating tax analysis; demonstrating an understanding of complex tax concepts; discussing moderatelycomplex tax issues with business teams; keeping informed of current tax developments and effectively applying tax knowledge; developing andmodeling tax settlement scenarios and alternatives to determine financial and tax impact on current and future periods; and collaborating with thelegal department to establish procedures for proper assertion and protection of legal privilege claims in litigation.Manages medium- to high- complexity federal and state tax returns, forms, and reporting of operations by gathering financial data from departmentsand divisions; analyzing and incorporating financial data into returns; managing tax notices and recommending resolutions to issues withinestablished timelines to senior management; reviewing and responding to information requisitions; processing financial and tax data usingprofessional tax software; facilitating the sales and use tax data collection process; obtaining missing or incomplete tax data from departments,vendors, and customers; partnering with stakeholders to determine opportunities for and ensuring application of sales tax credits; determining optionsfor tax payment; ensuring credits are taken in accordance with state and local regulations; recovering refunds; advising internal and externalcustomers on company tax compliance practices; and presenting income tax results to senior management.Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders;supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability forand measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promotingcontinuous learning.Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; andensuring diversity awareness.Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity byimplementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executingbusiness processes and practices.
