The Radiology Technologist performs general diagnostic radiological procedures utilizing various imaging equipment to assist in diagnosis of disease and injuries.When not in the role of the Radiology Technologist, the individual will perform drug screens and assist the Drug & Alcohol Coordinator with administrative duties, and room patients.
- Operates general x-ray and other imaging equipment to make radiographs of designated body portions. Positions patients for each anatomical view for optimal results.
- Responsible to review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity. Takes steps to acquire additional information if needed from the patient, ordering provider and/or Radiologist.
- Demonstrates acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors and alignment. Reviews patient data for accuracy, quality and completeness.
- Understands and uses PACS and other digital imaging and reporting systems.
- Transfers and verifies imaging data in PACS and provides necessary medical history and information for Radiologist interpretation. Utilizes RIS for proper scheduling, billing and coding procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining imaging equipment and workplace environment including maintaining supply inventories and orderliness of work area. Recognizes malfunctions and service needs and reports service needs in a timely manner.
- Assists in instruction of new staff as necessary.
- Performs drug screens and breath alcohol tests, and documents results.
- Assists the Drug & Alcohol Coordinator in maintaining and preparing Consortium files and reports.
- Provides Companies and Medical Review Officers with copies of the Chain of Custody by fax and mail.
- Provides Patient Care:
- Performs drug and alcohol testing according to state and federal guidelines.
- Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
- Drug & Alcohol Consortiums:
- Works with the Drug and Alcohol Coordinator to maintain driver lists in the Agility Ransom Testing Module.
- Works with the Drug and Alcohol Coordinator to prepare and maintain quarterly spreadsheets of DOT, Non-DOT and Company Consortiums, as well as quarterly and annual reports for each company in the Consortiums.
- Performs random driver selections per each consortium protocol.
- Communicates testing results to companies.
- Maintains Patient Care Environment:
- Orders, receives and stores supplies.
- Cleans and stocks supplies for drug screen stations and breath alcohol testing.
- Maintain par level of supplies.
