WEEKEND PROGRAM! $5,000 SIGN ON BONUS - EXTERNAL ONLY To perform routine radiographic procedures on designated portion of the body for use by physicians in diagnosing and treating patient illness and/or injury to ensure patient safety and quality care. The role of the radiology technologist I is to ensure Customer Satisfaction, to support an atmosphere of respect and professionalism among other associates, including students from the School of Radiology along with performing advanced imaging in Surgery and Fluoroscopy.
- Positions patient and adjusts equipment, secures, and immobilizes support devices as needed to perform procedures.
- Determines appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy and patient's condition to obtain quality films
- Secures history from patient regarding reason for prescribed tests, medication reconciliation and records on appropriate form
- Assists radiologists with routine fluoroscopic and/or invasive procedures.
- Operates portable radiographic equipment and C-arm effectively in patient room, intensive care, and surgery.
- Initiates request for emergency medical support as indicated by patient condition; including code blue, rapid response, etc.
- Documents all allergic reactions according to departmental and hospital policy.
- Transports patients into and out of department as necessary.
- Checks film quality to assure optimal quality is attained and correct film labeling is provided.
- Performs quality control activities, responds to inquiries, coordinates patient flow
- Communicates with staff radiologists and other hospital personnel to ensure exams are completed on time.
- Prepares radiographic/fluoroscopic rooms for procedures, maintains equipment, and supplies as required.
- Reports deficient inventory of supplies and linen to Lead Technologist.
- Labels radiographic films according to department quality assurance standards and criteria.
- Provides direction and instruction to students in general procedures.
- Maintains positive "guest relations" and telephone etiquette following prescribed departmental policies and procedures.
- Take thorough and accurate patient medical histories.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Position and immobilize patient on examining table.
- Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety.
- Position imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance, according to specification of examination.
