What we need We are looking for an Advanced Robot Programmer to join our Vision and Robotics group. This position will report to the Director, Vision & Robotics and will play an important role in improving our robotic solutions and supporting our customers' sites with robotic expertise.
What we do The Vision and Robotics Group is responsible for the design, development, improvements and support of the advanced vision and robotics solutions for our warehouse automation systems. The group is driven by a desire for innovation and the pursuit of perpetual improvements to make our robotics system more intelligent, more capable and easier to deploy and use.
What you'll do
- Participate in the development and maintenance of robotic solutions using ABB robots (RAPID code, Robot Studio, PC SDK)
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of automation solutions (robot tools, sensors, PLC and Vision communication, etc.)
- Perform software development and debugging (robot, operator interface, etc.)
- Investigate electrical and mechanical problems with Symbotic solutions.
- Develop quality assurance tools (internal and for our partners)
- Support sites in production or start-up (remotely or in person on site)
- 25% Travel - Availability to travel in Montreal, Canada and within the US
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automated Production Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.
- 5 years professional experience Programming Robotic Applications
- Knowledge of ABB development tools (RAPID, Robot Studio, PC SDK)
- Knowledge of C/C++/C# programming languages (an asset)
- Good knowledge of mechatronics (motors, industrial pneumatics, electrical circuits, sensors, etc.)
- Ability to work in a team with rigor and concern for quality.
- Excellent synthesis skills

- Capacity to adapt to an environment of changing priorities.
