What we need We are looking for a Senior Cell Test Engineer to join our System Test team within our Core Hardware Engineering organization. Your job will be to establish unique and innovative designs that will be used to stimulate and measure performance of our cell automation. You will leverage your skills in hardware and industrial controls software to implement these solutions. You will develop your skills to become a subject matter expert on testing solutions and work closely with our Industrial Controls and Hardware Engineering teams. You will be accountable to deliver your solutions in support of code verification, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of Symbotic products.
What we do The System Test organization is part of our is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to validating the performance of Symbotic's warehouse automation system and driving the highest standards of quality and reliability. System Test is responsible for all aspects of test planning and execution, from early-stage new product development initiatives to continuous improvement of our products in the field. Every improvement, idea and invention you make gets tested and quickly implemented because our solutions are already in use by some of the nation's largest retailers. We solve important global challenges that involve technology, business, science and logistics
What you'll do
- Create and execute verification tests for Rockwell PLC Add-On-Instruction (AOI) code releases and regression test bug fixes for system hardware components.
- Support and advance the capability of our Industrial Controls Lab to automate testing.
- Support the electrical and PLC controls needs in our Innovation Test Center (ITC).
- Author comprehensive test specifications to guide test initiatives in collaboration with development partners and contract manufacturers.
- Collect and analyze product performance data to refine test criteria and improve test methods.
- Participate in root cause analysis to address customer performance issues or warranty claims.
- Work cross functionally to identify and resolve systemic design and manufacturing issues. Be an escalation point for troubleshooting and repairing non-conforming products.
- Travel up to 10% for customer site visits.
What you'll need
- BS in Electrical, Computer Science, Automation, Robotics or other related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience working with industrial control and automation systems with a high degree of hardware and software complexity.
- Strong technical background with the Rockwell platform.
- Experience with industrial robotics, vision systems, and remote IO, VFDs and servo systems.
- Experience with networking controls systems and distributed controls systems on Ethernet IP.
- Schematic design experience with CAD, AutoCad Electrical preferred.
