What we need We're looking for a passionate Senior Robotics Test Engineer to join our dynamic System Test team within our Core Hardware Engineering organization. In this role, you'll spearhead the development and execution of a rigorous testing strategy for our next-generation robots. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring these systems meet stringent functional, performance, reliability, and safety standards.
What we do The Senior Robotics Test Engineer is part of the System Test organization and is responsible for leading and executing a comprehensive test strategy for our robotic systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the functionality, performance, reliability, and safety of our next-generation robots. Every improvement, idea and invention you make gets tested and quickly implemented because our solutions are already in use by some of the nation's largest retailers. We solve important global challenges that involve technology, business, science and logistics.
What You'll Do
- Plan test activities of innovative robotic systems through the technical development process.
- Create and monitor detailed Design Verification Test (DVT) plans to burn down technical risk across programs.
- Develop detailed Design of Experiments (DOE) to identify sources of variation.
- Lead design efforts of tools, fixtures, and test environments by leveraging internal and external resources to hit aggressive program milestones.
- Own the program test plan schedules; set milestones and determine tools and capital equipment requirements.
- Establish well-defined success metrics, thoroughly document methods, and produce comprehensive reports showing exceptional attention to detail.
- Produce very clear, concise presentations and confidently communicate results and findings to Symbotic leadership.
- Troubleshoot system and product problems in design, manufacturing, or customer site operations.
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive resolution.
What You'll Need
- BS in Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years design validation experience for products with a high degree of hardware and software complexity in the robotics or industrial automation industries.
- Previous experience in a technical lead role guiding junior engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to transform complex test data into informative conclusions.
- Experience designing or testing motion control equipment, material handling systems, motors, sensors, vision systems and/or communications protocols.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Background with product reliability and accelerated testing preferred.
- Experience testing systems with PLC control and motion control hardware preferred.
- Experience with Linux scripting a plus.
