What We Need Our Engineering organization is looking for a Director to lead Software Test and Software Quality Assurance (SQA). You will spearhead the development and implementation of comprehensive test strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products. Your primary focus will be on devising effective test plans, executing rigorous testing procedures, and providing insightful analysis of test results. You will lead a team of talented test engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in software testing practices. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, production deployment and operations, and quality assurance to drive quality initiatives throughout the software development lifecycle. Your contributions will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the overall quality and reliability of our system solution and software offerings.
What We Do The Software Test and SQA team develops, implements, enforces, and improves upon quality standards, tools, and methods to assure quality across Symbotic strategic products and solutions.
What You'll Do
- Possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive alignment towards common goals.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail and a drive for continuous improvement.
- Develop and document test strategies for complex multi-system projects.
- Break down the test plan into subsystems and timelines, and create a plan for testing, managing execution, and reporting on the test process.
- Manage and track test activities at all stages, from functional testing to full end-to-end system testing, ensuring all elements involved in the solution work together seamlessly.
- Maintain a deep understanding of all elements of the Symbotic solution being tested to analyze, advise, and communicate risks and impacts to new and existing products and services. Provide input into mitigation plans as necessary.
- Have experience in developing and executing test environments for complex system simulation and emulation.
- Assess impacts to the overall test schedule as findings occur and need resolution.
- Feed appropriate test results back to engineering teams to resolve issues found.
- Work with urgency to ensure all teams have the information needed to keep the overall program on track.
- Evaluate, analyze, and report on the quality of the strategic project.
- Create a strategic vision, mature, and direct quality assurance policies, programs, and initiatives.
- Develop, implement, enforce, and improve upon quality standards, tools, and methodologies.
- Engage in the overall Project Lifecycle Methodology to inform appropriate data quality and testing considerations are part of the process.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience as a quality assurance leader, working with complex hardware and software products.
- Experience in Logistics and Warehouse automation is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to create quality standards, tools, and methodologies.
- 5 plus years of experience building and leading strong teams
- Extensive familiarity with quality assurance processes and procedures, including the ability to devise methods to enforce quality standards.
- Proven experience in planning and executing end-to-end testing of integrated systems, including validation of the integration layer.
- High level experience in writing and executing basic SQL query commands.
- Proficiency in working with SDLC and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Expertise in performing various types of Testing, including Black Box, GUI, Integration, Regression, Backend, System, End-to-End, and User Acceptance Testing.
- Experience with Service Oriented Architecture and in developing/testing SOA software systems deployed to a production environment.
- Experience in configuring and testing messaging services, especially RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AMQP.
- Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, etc.), CI/CD pipelines (GIT, Jenkins, etc.), and the configuration management tool Ansible.
- Hands-on experience with a variety of simulation frameworks and testing tools (TestRail, JIRA, etc.).
- Proven leadership in coordinating cross-functional teams and a champion of consistency and task completion.
- Robust analytical skills for evaluating both existing processes and identifying areas of opportunity.
- Skilled communicator with excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience working with Agile development methodologies.
