Vice President of Corporate Quality
Essential Duties
Define policies and procedures related to all Quality related functions as well as setup product expectations that can be effectively monitored and validated through the multiple points of the value chain. In addition to these duties, the VP of Corporate Quality is responsible for the strategy around third party certifications that align with business objectives and customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Quality department adherence to the Cardinal Rules of Safety.
- Manages and leads the Quality department and direct reports as outlined in the organization chart.
- Designs, implements, and documents standardized procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
- Serves as the primary quality resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement support especially for high risk and external concerns.
- Coordinates data compilation and quality related objective evidence to drive data driven corrective actions.
- Responsible to oversee, optimize, and standardize the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Responsible to oversee and maintain adherence to ISO 9001 certification including execution of associated audits, training, documentation, and maintenance of compliant processes for ongoing certification. Educates and trains employees as to their impact and responsibility within ISO 9001 and/or the QMS.
- Oversees quality management of non-conforming process, calibration, inspection, testing, critical road safety program (CRS), FHWA inspection program, customer data packages, corrective action, continual improvement, onboarding quality training, supplier quality issues, internal audits, customer audits/ visits and quality related capital projects.
- Performs and oversees root causes analysis, problem solving activities corrective action and quality improvement activities for quality issues, as appropriate, to raise the performance of processes across the Corporation.
- Supports supplier development process through score carding and coordination of PPAP process.
- Supports Engineering design & process development projects to ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
- Supports Sales and Engineering sales order/ contract review activities to ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in the quality and process agreements; this trough ongoing business and through New Product Introduction (NPI) with the use of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) as the main tool for implementation.
- Supports conformance to customer, government and industry specifications and standards provided by engineering.
- Manage, lead, motivate, develop, and direct people as they work and identify the best people for the job.
- Proactive communicator who can clearly articulate results and needs across all levels.

Qualifications
- Education: bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience; Mechanical / Industrial Engineering focus is preferable.
- Master’s degree in engineering and related technical area is preferred.
- 15+ years of management experience in technical fields related to Quality Areas.
- 5+ years of experience in the trailers industry is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Formal Six Sigma and Project Management trainings are a requirement. Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- At Least 10 years of manufacturing experience in supervision or management roles around Quality.
- Automotive experience is preferable.
- Strong ability in interpretation of manufacturing and process control analytics for further action taking.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (i.e. MS Project, Smart sheets, etc.)
- Full understanding and experience of DMAIC methodology to drive Six Sigma projects.
- Strong knowledge on the analysis of quality and manufacturing issues through Six Sigma tools such as:
- SPC (Statistical Process Control).
- Process Capability Analysis.
- DOE (Design of Experiments).
- Software aptitude in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP Systems. Power BI experience is preferable.
- Ability to drive projects at rapid pace and lead resources with or without formal delegation of authority.
- Ability to effectively communicate, work and relate with people at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage a manufacturing engineering budget and drive expected financial results.
- Creative thinking and collaborative approach on all fronts of the organization.
