Job Summary: A full-time position with benefits is available in the Entertainment Department at Six Flags Magic Mountain. This position is responsible for pre-production design and coordination, installation, and hands on repair of the technical systems of shows, special events, park sound and ride show elements. This Foreman is responsible for providing development of other Technical Shop personnel. This position is a part of a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Pay Range: $21.00 - $26.00/hr. (+$2.50/hr. Foreman Rate)
Reports to: Entertainment Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all Six Flags policies and procedures and Department of Labor laws and guidelines.
- Works with the Entertainment Supervisors to provide safe rigging practices are established and maintained on all productions and events.
- Work with the Tech Shop staff to develop the team member experience level and ensure Team Members are properly trained and equipped to perform their job responsibilities.
- Develop safe Standard Operating Procedures for new and routine tasks for all Shop personnel.
- Ensure and enforces proper technical support is provided for all shows and special events to include technical design, equipment selection, and maintenance plans so that quality performances are presented every day.
- Develop plans with Entertainment Full-Time Supervision for all long and short-term maintenance and repair of assigned technical systems.
- Field troubleshooting and proficient at bench repair of all mechanical and electrical aspects of sound, lighting, control and video and other equipment including but not limited to: amplifiers, sound mixing consoles, lighting control consoles, lighting dimmers, show control programs, on board audio, snow/fog machines, ride effects servers, projectors and one of a kind specialty devices.
- Design, implement and perform required tasks including but not limited to: audio and video rack assembly, audio and video installation, control installation, conduit installation, special plate fabrication, electrical panel installation, (related to lighting control systems) equipment modification for special control applications.
- Assist in the operational aspects of production including, but not limited to: studio production of sound effects and background music on various media.
- Act as Duty Technical Shop Manager (Unit 381) to include coordinating response to various park locations, during park operation, to troubleshoot sound and lighting issues.
- Oversees timing and completion of projects within the established budget. Provide input and design for sound, video and control systems
- Oversees elements related to Park Sound including Park Sound content, hardware, software and interaction with shows.
- Operate heavy equipment such as Forklifts and Aerial Lifts
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on the changing needs.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of hands-on technical experience in sound, lighting, and show control preferred.
- Strong motivational, leadership, and team building skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient at reading and comprehending system engineering plans (one-line details) both for repair and installation.
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish goals through motivation and delegation, as well as through established systems.
- Good organizational skills, creative, outgoing, detail oriented, and self-motivator.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge in Alcorn McBride, ETC, WinScript and general networking is preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
Physical requirements:
- Constantly standing, talking, climbing walking, reaching, using finger movement, grasping, feeling, speaking clearly, hearing conversation, using hearing acuity, seeing near far, stooping, bending, kneeling.
- Working in extreme heat, sun, cold, wetness, humidity and temperature change.
- Working at heights up to and exceeding 40 feet
- Must be able to push pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
- All lifts over 51 lbs. require help from a coworker or mechanical device.
- Working with noises above 89 decibels.
