Sherwin-Williams hiring for Nailer Operator - 1st Shift jobs in Portland, OR, US
The employee will become part of the Purdy paintbrush manufacturing team in the line-finishing department. Purdy manufactures professional painting tools of the highest quality. This position will be required to setup and run the Nailer machine.The employee will have direct control of the Nailer, Pick and Place, Stamper, and Cleaning machine set up which determines the quality of nailing, stamping, and brush cleaning. Constant monitoring of machine operation and product quality determine if the machine setup needs adjusted.

- The Nailer inserts a handle into the brush head, nails the brush head to the handle, and moves the brush under the Stamper to be stamped. Then the Pick and Place sends the brush into the cleaning machine for cleaning.
- Setup, test, and run the Nailer machine, Pick and Place, and Stamper
- Setup, test, and run the cleaning machine
- Retrieve materials
- Load brush heads, handles, nails, and ink in the machine during production
- Stack brush heads coming from the cleaner
- Constantly monitor quality of handles, brush heads, and finished brushes
- Remove defective brushes from the order
- Take seconds to team manager or team lead for review
- Use scanner to scan on and off orders. Input accurate data into scanner.
- Keep work area clean and conduct a final cleaning near the end of each shift
- Maintain Accurate Metrics: Units Produced, Rework Units, Seconds, Downtime, Switch Over Time, Maintenance Log, etc.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of work experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
