The Data Governance Lead is responsible for establishing data governance policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure data quality, integrity, and security. The incumbent will work with leadership, business groups, domain owners, and data teams to establish and maintain comprehensive, business-centric data governance goals, strategies, and responsibilities for all data types, including new, existing, application, and 3rd party data. This position also delivers data governance objectives set forth by Leadership and ensures data standards and blueprints are clearly reflected in enterprise policies and standards. The Lead will oversee and mentor their team to achieve established goals, while staying up-to-date with emerging data governance technologies and best practices. The role requires strategic thinking and deep collaboration to improve the quality and value of enterprise data assets, respond to regulatory requirements, and support the strategic requirements of the organization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Develop and implement a data governance strategy aligned with organization’s goals and objectives featuring data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure integrity and security
- Establish data ownership and accountability across business units by liaising with domain owners and other key business stakeholders
- Design and implement a robust data intake process for new data that ensures compliance with data governance policies and standards
- Manage enterprise data domains by controlling the creation, maintenance, use, and disposal of enterprise data
- Manage the approach for governing application and 3rd party data
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and data protection policies
- Implement data privacy controls, consent management, and data access restrictions
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to monitor data compliance and security risks
- Work with business users and Data Technology (DT) team to define domain business needs and implement data products
- Conduct regular reviews, assessments, and monitoring of data governance processes, policies, and compliance to measure program effectiveness and ensure data quality metrics are met
FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or in lieu of related degree, at least 8 years of experience in data management, or 8+ years of Business experience supporting key initiatives dependent on connected and trusted data
Preferred:
- Related certifications (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional, Certified Data Governance Professional) preferred
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in a technical role such as software engineering, data architecture, data engineering, technical analysis or awareness of the criticality and points of engagement that are required of each of these functions to execute a successful data governance program
- Experience in data compliance, governance, and data privacy experience
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices for data governance
- Knowledge of enterprise data warehouses and/or data lakes
- Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to the management of enterprise information assets, and approaches related to data protection
- Knowledge of data profiling, data mapping, and data quality tools
- Excellent collaboration and project management skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
