Job Summary Leads the development of standards, processes, and technical security controls for the organization. These controls are designed to prevent, detect, and contain security threats; enabling Sanford to be productive while maintaining a secure environment that optimizes Sanford s return on investment. Responsibilities of the Principal Information Security Systems Engineer role may include:
- Design, develop, and implement information security solutions, processes, and systems.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues for information security systems and processes.
- Improve information security solutions, processes, and systems for protection against evolving threats and efficiency.
- Coach other members of the organization on the best practices that should be followed for Information security and network security.
- Stay up-to-date on current information and network security threats and industry solutions. Extensive hands-on knowledge of security best practices, procedures, and solutions that support enterprise information security.
Extensive knowledge and experience with numerous information and network security technologies including, but not limited to firewall, IPS/IDS systems, SIEM, ZTNA, email filtering, web and content filtering, SSO/MFA, vulnerability management, and data protection. Facilitate the maintenance of existing security systems including implementing new features, performing upgrades, and managing technical configurations/policies across a variety of business-critical systems. Facilitate the monitoring and response to security system health alerts. Deliver security consulting services to other Sanford health groups. Build and maintain key vendor and supplier relationships. Provide expert level writing and maintenance of documentation that can be used by all team members and other employees. Provide technical and tactical expertise to a 24x7 team of dedicated security engineers focused on maintaining operational stability while reducing risk. Mentor others within the team on tools, processes, and the Sanford Health organization. Work under limited guidance due to previous experience/breadth of knowledge of processes and organizational knowledge. This role is regularly presented with new assignments and projects that require the application of independent judgement/interpretation of policies/practices. Checks own work and the work of other team members.
Qualifications Bachelor s degree in cyber security or an information technology related field Minimum of 7 years experience working in Cyber Security field. One or more security certifications (CISSP, CISA, CISM, Security+, CEH, etc.) are required.
