Salary Range: $21.50 - $34.50
Job Summary Teaching and training all ophthalmic and optometric assistants and technicians to perform preliminary screening examinations and tests to facilitate diagnosis and treatment by the provider. Possess and perform skills in ophthalmic testing as part of medical/surgical evaluation by physician. Create and maintain training and education for ophthalmic personnel.
Qualifications Must be a graduate of an accredited ophthalmic assistant or optometric assistant program or equivalent experience and maintain appropriate certification. Extensive knowledge in ophthalmic pharmacology, refractometry, and general patient care required. Must demonstrate the ability to perform advanced ophthalmic testing and procedures at a skilled level. Basic Life Support Certification required. Must have demonstrated knowledge and precise performance of assistant/technician clinical skills. Must have strong teaching/training communication and skills. Must maintain necessary JCAHPO requirements for Certified Ophthalmic Assistant re-certification or American Optometric Association's requirements for Certified Paraoptometric re-certification.
