Summary:The Clinical Services Manager coordinates the various disciplines and leads the clinical development of all aspects of their assigned programs. They oversee the consistent daily delivery of therapeutic treatment. They are responsible for the overall management of Social Services, including scheduling, performance improvement, treatment, and discharge planning. The Clinical Services Manager performs activities in the continuity of care for patients in a manner consistent with the system’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of patient care provided in the assigned programs.
- Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to understand the status of patient’s care.
- Apply established standards of care to insure a safe, therapeutic patient care environment.
- Provide direct services, when appropriate.
- Meet with patient/family to resolve concerns, address complaints, and answer questions. Advocate for the resolution of care issues, accessing resources in support of the patient.
- Promote collaborative relationships between the department and interdisciplinary roles to ensure cohesion of treatment team delivery.
Coordinate the activities of the Social Services staff at the assigned campus and programs.
- Implement and ensure proactive effective discharge planning, step up or step downs in a timely manner.
- Review and audit staff medical record documentation, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Provide for real-time supervision and mentoring of effective group, individual, and/or family therapy using solution-focused principles and Rogers subscribed interventions.
- Participate in case management staffings/special staffings and weekly meetings to provide quality case management.
- Resolving patient complaints and incidents and following through by documenting and communicating through the hospital system.
Effectively perform workforce functions including but not limited to hire and train employees; performance management; staff development; individual and team communication; assign work; and holding team accountable to department and system standards.
Provide for supervision and development of clinical staff through coordination of ongoing supervision model, audit feedback, and offering group or individual meetings to review staff education needs.
- This will include direct, real-time supervision and written formulations of training needs.
- Work closely with clinical supervisors to review areas for performance improvement and implementing corrective action measures as needed.

Physical/Mental Demands:
- Position will involve exposure to aggressive/combative patients.
- Verbal and hearing ability required to interact with patients and employees. Numerical ability required to maintain records and operate computer.
- Ability to plan, control and direct all aspects of employee relations. Tact required to deal effectively with employees and professional staff. Logical thinking and discretion required to make decisions initiating and implementing policies and procedures and standards.
- Must be able to read and communicate through written, verbal, and non-verbal skills and abilities.
- The majority of time is spent inside the building, walking, and standing. Will be required to lift equipment, patient care equipment and supplies and patients, within reason. Personal judgment dictates weightlifting limits but must be able to lift a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds. Reaching, handling, grasping and manual dexterity are necessary to operate various office equipment.
- Be physically/mentally able to perform job duties as verified by a physical exam by a licensed physician, per pre-employment physical.
Education/Training Requirements:
- Master’s degree in social services or related field and holds active clinical license issued by the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
- A minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience in mental health care and/or addiction services; at least two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric facility.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory/management role is required.
- An understanding and a thorough knowledge of the following: social service administration, supervision, consultation, the community and its resources, the dynamics of human growth and behavior, therapy skills and techniques for all age groups.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification is required with thirty (30) days of date of hire. Annual re-certification is required.
- Formal training in the management of the aggressive/dysregulated patient (NCI) is required within sixty (60) days of hire. Annual re-certification is required.
