Overview:
Norman Regional EMSSTAT operates 24/7 to provide pre-hospital stabilization and life-saving care to 30,000+ patients each year. We work alongside our medical directors, physicians, and nurses in our three Emergency Departments. We respond to all 911 medical and trauma emergencies, inter-facility transports, event standbys, collaborate with our Centers for Excellence on STEMI and stroke care, and partner with our public safety agencies to provide a wide range of EMS response capabilities in Moore, Norman, and surrounding areas. EMSSTAT has specialized teams such as SWAT Medics, a very active bike team, and our regional disaster medical response team (DMRT) which houses a large response trailer.
Responsibilities:
- Provides routine and emergency medical care, extrication, and transportation of ill and injured persons.
- Assesses patient and determines nature and acuity of illness/injury and administers appropriate medical treatment utilizing independent judgment and protocols or standing orders.

Qualifications:
Education
- Certificate or Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Technology.
- Minimum requirement is completion of the requirements for licensure (DOT curriculum paramedic program) recognized by the Oklahoma State Department of health in accordance with EMS regulations which allows individual to sit for the State and National Registry exams for licensure as an EMT.
Experience
(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).
Licensure / Certification
- Must be at least 21 years of age in order to be insured by NRH carrier.
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
- Must remain insurable by the NRHS/EMSSTAT vehicle insurance company by maintaining a good driving record and meeting any other requirement as set forth in the policy.
- Must have and maintain a current Oklahoma Paramedic License. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 30 days of hire through the NRHS American Heart Association RQI system and maintened throughout employment.
Other Knowledge / Skills / Experience
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Modules 100, 200, and 700 preferred but must be completed prior to the end of departmental orientation.
- HazMat Operations regarded favorably.
- Previous experience in emergency vehicle operations is preferred.
- Previous Critical Care training and experience preferred.
