As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the provision of occupational therapy services to students under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. You will also promote the development and functioning of the student’s fine motor, perceptual, and self-care skills. Starting salary based on experience. Valid PA Occupational Therapy Assistant professional license is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement individualized IEP goals and objectives aiming to promote fine motor, perceptual motor, self-care, sensory integrative skills, and play activities, as well as neuromuscular function
- Implement occupational therapy activities to meet student needs and encourage progress.
- Work collaboratively with members of the student’s multidisciplinary team, other related service professionals, school district personnel, outside service providers, and the student’s family to design and implement appropriate services.
- Demonstrate appropriate behavior management strategies and techniques, including knowledge of student privileges and responsibilities.
- Complete quarterly Progress Reports and provide information to parents/guardians and school districts.
- Attend multidisciplinary team and IEP meetings and other meetings as assigned.
- Utilize verbal non-violent crisis intervention techniques as needed.
- Maintain occupational therapy supplies and equipment and order supplies/sensory devices as needed and requested by families/school districts.
- Assist in the care and use of technical devices and/or assistive equipment if needed.
- Provide information to teachers and families as requested.
- Maintain daily billing logs with services provided in relationship to IEP guidelines. Travel to other school locations, as necessary.
WORK SKILLS
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with child, parent/guardian, multidisciplinary team members, and other personnel involved in child’s educational/behavioral program.
- Must have knowledge of child development and common behavioral disorders exhibited by children and adolescents.
- Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must display a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Must hold valid PA Occupational Therapy Assistant professional license
