Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Klingerstown, Pennyslvania known for their ice cream socials at Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, fishing rodeo, and fireman's parade. Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY: 

The purpose of the truck shop mechanic is to maintain and repair equipment used by the fleet.  The mechanics must ensure all equipment to be in safe working condition as governed by The Department of Transportation guidelines.  CASA customers, company, and drivers benefit from the prompt and quality job performed by the mechanics.

This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities, related to food safety and quality, are complied with.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:   

1. Maintain and repair equipment following Department of Transportation guidelines.
2. Do internal investigations of trucks and equipment to make corrections and repairs based on reports from drivers and computer findings.
3. Adhere to Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program. ex. – routinely check tractors with a safety inspection at 10,000 miles and a complete PM program at 30,000 miles.  Tankers and trailers are on a PM inspection program every 90 days.
4. Complete PA state inspection of vehicles – with proper certification
5. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
6. Report unsafe conditions to Supervisor.
7. Adhere to company safety and environmental policies.
8. Follow Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures according to OSHA requirements.
9. Snow removal around truck shop
10. Complete paperwork required of the position.
11. Assist in other areas as needed.
12. Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.  Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
14. Road calls – as needed (On call for one week per month)
15. Fuel reefer trailers at the Klingerstown drop lot and document temperatures (as needed)

Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

One year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers/vendors or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

* Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification (or ability to obtain)

* CDL Class A Driver’s license (or ability to obtain)

* State Inspection License (or ability to obtain)

* Refrigeration training/recover for working on reefer units (or ability to obtain)
