Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Klingerstown, Pennyslvania known for their ice cream socials at Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, fishing rodeo, and fireman's parade. Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
This position is responsible for all aspects of product manufacturing within the department, coordinating workflow between all departments. This person is responsible for continuous improvement of process efficiencies, people and food safety and quality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
- Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
- Responsible for all aspects of product manufacturing.
- Lead and participate in plant and corporate continuous improvement teams.
- Develop and/or maintain the programs necessary to ensure all employees are properly trained in order to meet company objectives relating to human safety, product quality and safety, human relations and professional development.
- Actively participate in the management team to promote safety, facility growth and team development.
- Prepare department budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Responsible for continuous improvement of product and quality.
- Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
- Enforces all company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Encourages employees to utilize the open-door policy which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the operational processes associated with the manufacturing facility.
- Keeps Plant Manager and Human Resource Manager informed on operating and/or employee problems, which may require their attention or knowledge.
- Insures consistent communications and monthly department meetings.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Responsible for leading RedZone meetings and ensure that huddles are held.
- May make decisions and perform the job responsibilities of the Operations Manager in their absence.
- Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
- Walk the floor about 50% of the shift
- Input data into the SAP system.
- Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Level 3 certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) preferably in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in production and supervision.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Supervising personnel in a manufacturing environment. Experience leading, motivating and developing teams and succession planning.
- Knowledge of plant operations and production scheduling
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
- Excellent English communication; verbal, written and presentation skills. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- Effective computer skills in MS Office Suite and SAP.
- Preparing and managing department budgets.
- Technical problem solving.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion
