Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Klingerstown, Pennyslvania known for their ice cream socials at Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, fishing rodeo, and fireman's parade. Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for maintenance, repair and installation of plant equipment including the training, scheduling, and development of all production maintenance employees.
This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed, and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assumes personal responsibility to ensure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
- Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
- Supervision of maintenance crew.
- Manage repair parts inventory.
- Create work orders and PM’s.
- Responsible for installing new equipment.
- Troubleshoot problems with equipment.
- Provides a safe work environment for employees.
- Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations.
- Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records (I.E. timecards, downtime records, absentee records, etc.).
- Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
- Keeps manager informed on operating and/or employee problems which may require their attention or knowledge.
- Schedule crew overtime.
- Involvement in Organizational Teams and committees.
- May make decisions and perform the job responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager in their absence.
- Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Level 3 certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associate degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
- Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification
- Driver’s license
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: |
- Associate degree (A.S., A.A.) or two-year technical certificate in Mechanics and Electronics or a related field and two years of mechanical and electrical maintenance and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Communication and interpersonal relations as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Ability to learn computerized maintenance management system.
- Knowledge of basic mechanics, welding, electrical, fabrication, preventative maintenance, plant operations, PLC’s, general electrical and government safety regulations.
- Able to supervise department personnel in a fair and consistent manner.
- Be able to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve.
- Basic computer skills with ability to input data into the SAP system
- Light typing skills
- Ability to answer phones and receive pertinent information
