Michael Foods, Inc. located in the Village of West Jefferson, OH, is located just minutes from the western suburbs of Columbus and about 20 minutes to the west of downtown. Responsibilities:
- Assumes personal responsibility to insure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adheres to all safety policies/procedures and incorporates safety and health in all job’s duties/tasks.
- Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately.
- Attends and actively participates in safety meetings/trainings.
- Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
- Strip the outer bags off of the bags of ingredients and pour into the appropriate container recording new lot numbers to meet USDA and Quality Assurance specifications.
- Responsible for accurately weighting of all ingredients in order to ensure consistent batching of products.
- Set up the mixing room and ensure the correct formulation of product and ingredients using the pre-determined procedures approved by the company.
- Ensure accuracy and quality of the individual batches to be mixed and transferred to the proper holding tank. Assemble and dissemble all piping and pumps in the room.
- Set up for each line running ensuring there is a continuous flow of product to each line and that it will run out at the correct time.
- Determine if product meets customer specs or not and take corrective action as needed.
- Record appropriate LOT numbers, PH, on the batch sheets and usage forms to meet Quality Assurance and USDA specifications along with any other paperwork necessary for the position.
- Maintain scales and meters as needed to get as precise and accurate readings as possible.
- Have thorough knowledge of the Clean in Place (CIP) system in order to use it at the appropriate time.
- Assist in the general good housekeeping of the area including pipes, pumps and tanks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION: (Select the minimum level required for this position)
Level 3 High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: (Select the minimum level required for this position)
Level 3 Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:(Select the minimum level required for this position)
Level 3 Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: (Select the minimum level required for this position)
Level 3 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
