Location Description:
Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities.
Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist supervisor with training, monitoring, audits, safety, and other personnel management. Learn how to perform other positions within the department. Effectively communicate with personnel in sanitation and with other departments to keep production going. Able to identify / trouble shoot when a discrepancy is found. Maintain and complete paperwork daily.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in training of all sanitation, processing and production personnel in assigned department. Assists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted, or new procedures are implemented
- Operating and monitoring CIP system and belt CIP system to ensure proper cleaning of equipment.
- Communicate with Breaking, Maintenance, and other farm departments to facilitate daily activities.
- Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel. Also helps ensure that all processing complies with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods, Inc
- Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facility
- Become a qualified CIP Operator.
- Assist with safety audits.
- Maintains effective working relationship between members of department and other areas
- Continually monitors sanitation activities to ensure resources are properly allocated
- To follow all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures
- To follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) “washing hands, etc.” throughout the day
- To follow all HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines
- Monitors processing equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper sanitation standards
- Reports effectively all maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality and human safety to maintenance
- Encourage suggestions from employees which will improve productivity, quality or control cost of production
- Maintains accurate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly sanitation records.
- Assist with ensuring all paperwork related to HACCP is completed and turned in timely.
- Assure that all paperwork being done properly
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety
- Assist CIP Operators with daily liquid schedule
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
EDUCATION:
Training and/or experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Ability to consistently follow safety and quality rules and procedures
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Self-motivated and a willingness to learn.
- Must have proper math skills.
- Must be able to train new employees.
- Ability to safely lift 30-50 lbs at the farms
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends. Also, willing to work an alternate shift.
- Excessive walks, standing on hard surfaces
- Must have basic computer skills (excel, word, etc)
- Ability to analyze problems and find solutions
- Ability to obtain forklift operator License.
- Ability to obtain training in First Aid/CPR, Hot Works, Confined Space, and Lock Out Tag Out.
